Hi, I’m Tess.

Welcome to my blog where I document my travel adventures, provide tips, and give food & hotel recommendations.

Let’s start traveling!

La Maison de Clementine - Martinique

La Maison de Clementine - Martinique

This past January, I spent a long weekend in Martinique on vacation and it was beautiful! Hotels in Martinique are pretty slim and you won’t find any of your big, typical hotel chains on the island. There are a couple of all inclusive hotels but no huge resorts that you would find on other islands in the Caribbean which is something that makes Martinique very unique.

We chose to stay at La Maison de Clementine located in Fort de France and I couldn’t have been more pleased with our stay! The bed and breakfast is gated and on a secluded street tucked away from all of the hustle and bustle on downtown Fort de France. There are only 5 guest rooms at this bed & breakfast which make it feel more intimate and you can really get to know the owners and their adorable pup. The grounds feature a pool and many varieties of flowers and plants that you get a little taste of during breakfast every morning.

Upon our arrival, we were greeted outside and shown our room. We then sat down on the terrace near the pool and had welcome drinks and a snack prepared by the owners. We then discussed with them our plans during our stay and she even helped us book dinner reservations and a boat tour for our last day. It was really great to be welcomed like that right upon arrival and it made us feel right at home.

Our room was called the Barbuda suite and featured a large patio with a hammock and a soaker tub. It’s the perfect size for two people and we loved lounging in the hammock when we were in the room. My favorite thing about our room was waking up to a gorgeous view of the mountains from the bed. It was a great way to start the day!

Each morning, we would walk downstairs and sit at the community table outside on the terrace of the main house near the pool. Breakfast consisted of coffee and fresh juices with traditional French pastries, homemade jams and jellies, homemade yogurt, and fresh fruit.

The room was also stocked with everything you could ever need in a tropical oasis. From lotions to mosquito spray.. our room had it all! Everything was so thoughtfully placed that it really made me appreciate what a wonderful place I had chosen to stay! Maison Clementine will continue to be my home away from home when I visit Martinique and I hope that you get to experience their amazing hospitality as well!
