Its prime location in the heart of downtown allows you to fully experience the local culture, charm, and attractions of Victoria. I had the pleasure of staying here earlier this year and as a first-time visitor to Victoria BC, I wouldn’t recommend staying anywhere else. Everything at Chateau Victoria was perfect, from the prime location to the stunning views from our rooms balcony - and let’s not forget about the carefully crafted cocktails at the lobby bar, Clive’s Classic Lounge!
As a leisure traveler, you'll appreciate the easy access to the Inner Harbour, Royal BC Museum, and boutiques along Government Street, all just steps outside the hotel entrance. Stroll along the waterfront walkways, enjoy high tea at the historic Fairmont Empress Hotel, or take a horse-drawn carriage ride around the city. Location and Nearby Attractions

Chateau Victoria Hotel and Suites is centrally located in downtown Victoria along the picturesque Inner Harbour. The hotel's address is 740 Burdett Ave, Victoria, BC V8W 1B2.

The hotel is situated right in the heart of the city, within walking distance of major attractions like the Royal BC Museum, the provincial legislature, Beacon Hill Park, and Victoria’s Chinatown. Guests can easily explore top sites like the Empress Hotel, Victoria Bug Zoo, and Market Square or even rent an e-bike from nearby Pedego to explore popular sites a little bit further away.

The Inner Harbour neighborhood features scenic waterfront walks lined with restaurants, shops, and entertainment. Popular destinations like Fisherman's Wharf, Beacon Hill Park, and Fan Tan Alley are just a short stroll away. Whale-watching tours and harbor cruises also depart from the nearby docks. During our time in Victoria, we never used a car. We walked everywhere and were delighted that everything was conveniently located near Chateau Victoria.

Inside the Rooms at Chateau Victoria

Chateau Victoria Hotel boasts a variety of beautifully appointed guest rooms and luxury suites. Guests can choose options to suit their needs and budget, including dog-friendly rooms. I stayed in one of the Executive Penthouse Suites and it was truly amazing. Before Chateau Victoria was a hotel, it was a condominium on the higher floors so each guest suite outside of the Traditional Rooms feel like a true home away from home.

Traditional Rooms

These standard guest rooms feature either one king-sized bed or two queen beds. This room type is great for business or budget travelers as rates start right below $200 per night. The Traditional Rooms were recently renovated in 2023 and are beautifully decorated, as are all of the rooms at Chateau Victoria. The Traditional Rooms do not offer scenic views and are located on the lower floors of the building.

Superior Suites and Deluxe One-Bedrooms Suites

For more space, book one of the Superior Suites or One Bedroom Suites which offer 500-580 sq ft of living space, plus a balcony. These suites have a separate living area with a pull-out sofa bed. The Superior Suites are located on the 5th floor and feature a queen-size bed while the One Bedroom Suites are located on floors 6-15 and have options of two queen-size beds or one king-size bed. Prices start around $250 per night depending on what time of year you visit.

Two Bedroom Suites

The spacious Two Bedroom Suites are perfect for families or groups. These rooms are 750 sq ft and feature walkout balconies with patio furniture so that you can enjoy the beautiful views of Victoria from the 16th and 17th floors. The bedrooms are completely separate from each other and this room type also features a living room, dining room, and walk-in shower with an en suite bathroom. Two Bedroom Suites start just below $500 per night.

Executive Penthouse Suites

If you really want to spread out and feel luxurious, opt for one of their three Executive Penthouse Suites. We stayed in penthouse room 1602 and loved every single thing about it! Each Penthouse Suite has a unique layout. 1602 features a 350 sq ft balcony with patio furniture and a fire table that’s perfect for enjoying coffee in the morning or a glass of wine at sunset. Penthouse 1602 is also the only Penthouse Suite that features a soaker tub - which was really great after walking around town all day.

Penthouse Suite 1601 features the largest balcony in the hotel, 1,500 sq ft to be exact! You’ll also find two separate bathrooms, both with walk-in showers in suites 1601 and 1701. Both of these penthouse suites also boast views of the iconic legislative building!

All three Executive Penthouse Suites feature kitchen areas, living rooms, large dining areas, and highly sought-after views of Inner Harbour. The Executive Penthouse Suites range in price starting from around $500 per night depending on the season and which room you’re interested in.

Dog-Friendly Rooms

Chateau Victoria is a great option for dog friendly hotels in Victoria BC. They offer dog-friendly room options in the Traditional Room and One Bedroom Suites and there is a pet guest fee of $25 per night. The hotel is conveniently located near two dog-friendly parks, Beacon Hill Park and St. Anne’s Academy.

Amenities and Unique Features

Chateau Victoria offers a variety of excellent amenities to make your stay as enjoyable and relaxing as possible.

Restaurants and Bars

The hotel has two on-site restaurants, Clive's Classic Lounge and Vista 18 Restaurant. Clive's Classic Lounge offers a refined setting with some of the best craft cocktails in town and shareable plates. We absolutely loved Clive’s and found ourselves there every night during our stay! The cocktails are incredible and Clive’s has won numerous awards over the years not only for the best cocktails in Victoria but also all of Canada. Clive’s is named after the founder and previous owner of Chateau Victoria and the decor of the lounge oozes sleek sophistication.

Vista 18 Restaurant serves up regional cuisine with ingredients from local farms, ranches, and fisheries. Vista 18 is open for breakfast, dinner, and happy hour and sits on the 18th floor of Chateau Victoria with stunning views of the Inner Harbour and Olympic Mountains. Vista 18 is the perfect way to start your day with breakfast and take in the views. We enjoyed happy hour here before heading to the ferry terminal for our ferry back to Seattle

In-Room Massages

Chateau Victoria has partnered with Compass Massage to offer guests in-room services from relaxation massages to acupuncture. Simply call or book online before or during your stay.

Fitness Center and Indoor Pool

The fitness center and indoor pool is open daily from 6 am to 10:30 pm and is equipped with a treadmill, elliptical machine, stationary bike, and more. Skylights adorn the room where the indoor pool and hot tub are located, giving the space tons of natural light and making you feel as if you were outdoors. Whether you’re taking a dip in the pool or relaxing with friends in the 6-person hot tub, you’ll definitely want to take advantage of this amenity!

Complimentary Shuttle Service

We were pleasantly surprised when we learned that Chateau Victoria offers a complimentary shuttle service for guests to destinations within a 2.5km radius. This includes guest pick-up from the FRS Clipper ferry terminal when you arrive in Victoria, British Columbia from the US.

Chateau Victoria Lego Replica

You can find this unique display in the lobby of the hotel and if you’re a LEGO fan, you’ll definitely want to check this out! Glenn Waddingham, a bellman at the hotel, created this impressive masterpiece that took over 18 months to construct and over 500 hours to complete! Glenn has worked at the hotel for years and I was delighted to meet him during my stay. You can tell he put his whole heart into this project and even included staff members and regular hotel guests positioned in their favorite suites.

On-Site Parking and EV Charging

Guests can find 4 parking lots on-site and nightly rates are $10 per night if you book your reservations directly through the hotel's website, or $20 per night if you book through a third-party site. Yes, you read that correctly. You can save 50% on parking when you book your stay directly through Chateau Victoria! There are also 6 EV charging stations for hotel guests only.
