The Room Mate Alba Madrid is a 4 star hotel and the newest addition to the Room Mate family of boutique hotels in Spain. This modern hotel has 48 rooms and suites and is located in one of the most historical neighborhoods in Madrid Spain. The hotel is just steps away from Plaza de Santa Ana, San Miguel Market, Plaza Mayor, and Puerta del Sol. With its location near some of Madrid's most popular attractions, it makes sense that this hotel would be a top choice for travelers who want to explore all that Madrid has to offer! Room Mate Alba was my home away from home for the entire five days I spent in Madrid and I thoroughly enjoyed every moment. The staff was remarkable and went above and beyond to make sure we felt welcomed and had a great time in Madrid - they even put handwritten notes and chocolates in our room each night! Needless to say, Room Mate hotels will be my first choice when I stay in Spain and where they hotel properties throughout Europe.

They have five properties in Madrid and four in Barcelona and all have unique design aesthetics and personalities, but you’ll feel right at home at any of their properties! The Room Mate Alba Madrid hotel has been designed with an eye for detail and comfort, so you can enjoy all that this vibrant city has to offer, and it's located in Barrio de las Letras - one of Madrid's most famous and underrated neighborhoods. Room Mate Alba sits on Calle de las Huertas which is a popular pedestrian street so you won’t hear any traffic noise while you enjoy your stay. The Room Mate Alba Madrid is a great choice for anyone looking for a boutique hotel in Madrid. The location is excellent, the rooms are spacious and comfortable, and there's plenty of amenities on offer.

The Rooms

The rooms at Room Mate Alba Hotel Madrid are spacious, comfortable, and beautifully furnished. There are five room types; Standard, Superior, Penthouse, Suite, and Suite Deluxe. We stayed in one of the Penthouse rooms which had a huge bathroom with eye-catching tile and two double beds. Most room types have options for one bed or two double beds and the hotel is very responsive if you need to reach out to them for any questions or requests. Within each room, there is also a desk, luggage rack, wardrobe and drawers, toiletries, a hair dryer, and air conditioning.

Rooms at Alba start on average between $300 - $500 per night depending on what time of year you’re visiting. No matter which room type you select, you’ll be in for a treat. Each room keeps to the overall aesthetic of the hotel, but is unique in its own way from the wallpaper design to the room color and furnishings.

The Location

If you are traveling to Madrid, Room Mate Alba is the perfect hotel for you! Located in Barrio de las Letras (the literary quarter), this charming hotel offers guests an authentic experience that cannot be replicated anywhere else in the city. The streets in Barrio de las Letras are named after Spain’s iconic poets and authors from the Spanish Golden Age that either lived or wrote in the neighborhood, and you can find plaques throughout this neighborhood highlighting their work. There are tons of shops and restaurants in Barrio de las Letras and one of our tapas tours even had the meeting point in the neighborhoods’ square, Plaza de Santa Ana.

The hotel's location is also ideal for those looking for accommodations near major attractions such as the royal palace, Retiro Park, Gran Vía, Plaza Mayor, and Puerta del Sol. For reference, it’s only an 8-minute walk to Plaza Mayor and a 9-minute walk in the opposite direction to the Prado Museum. If you're planning on visiting other parts of Spain during your stay, it's also conveniently located near Atocha train station so that you can easily get around by train or bus! You can take a train from Atocha station to nearby Segovia, Avila, and Toledo which are great day trips from Madrid. We opted for a guided full-day tour to Avila and Segovia and had an amazing time seeing the countryside and learning about each historical town! It's also conveniently located near the metro station as well that you can hop on to see sites such as the Las Ventas Bullring.

Happy travels!
